Project: Building of fence around yard for old farm equipment inside Wilpena Pound

Early in 2007 two quite different projects were put to us for consideration, and both have turned out to be quite interesting: Building of a fence around a yard for old farm equipment inside Wilpena Pound (May 2007), and the restoration of a 19th Century Shepherd's Hut, Guide Hut (started July 2007).

The team who made the trip to Wilpena for the May 2007 working weekend shared a productive and enjoyable couple of days. They measured, carried, dug, cut, guided, pushed, pulled, drilled, twisted and cut, and all for very good reason.

Rangers had asked a few months before if we would like to relocate various remnants of farming equipment scattered around Hill’s Homestead to a common site and erect a suitably fashioned fence around it. Hill’s Homestead is nestled just inside Wilpena Pound and visited by thousands of tourists annually. We agreed to do the job and that was the weekend to do it.
